Who's Who
Pastor: Mike McDonald-Hocking
Hi. My name is Mike McDonald-Hocking. It is with much gratitude and pleasure that I serve with my wife Heather as the Pastor at Arohanui Christian Centre. Both Heather and I were born and have lived for most of our lives here in Hawke’s Bay. We both love the people and the area deeply. Together we found Christ in a very real and deep way early in our marriage and since then the Lord has been graciously working in us to serve him more and more. He has blessed us with four children (all now adults).
Much of my working life has been in the music industry particularly music retail and education.
Heather and I worked six years with Radio Rhema. This eventually led to a three year ministry study program with Bible College of NZ (now Laidlaw College) together with our home church the Napier Baptist Church.
My pastoral passion is to see people understand how important Jesus is and make him number one in their lives.
Pastor at large: Hank Overeem
I have been landed with the title “Pastor-at-Large”. What does that mean? Basically, I minister in the wider Christian world as a lecturer and speaker mostly in the Asia/South Pacific and Australasia regions. I have written a booklet What Happens After We Die – A Christian Perspective and some other publications which can be accessed and down-loaded from my website: http://hank.overeem.co.nz.
I am married to Hilda; we have five adult children and seven grandchildren. We have been involved with Arohanui Christian Centre since 1987.
Elder: David Rogers
I have been at Arohanui since 2001 and taken part in a range of ministry areas including; leading a home group, worship, preaching and cutting trees with my chainsaw. I am married to Suzanne, have a son called Philip and a border collie cross dog named Rupert. I love riding bikes, walking, running, swimming and manage to fit in working as a scientist along with being a kea scout leader.

About Us
Historically, Arohanui was a Methodist Church until 2001. We are now a Christian congregation in association with Grace Fellowships NZ.
Grace Fellowships NZ is composed of a group of autonomous Christian congregations who subscribe to the common statement of faith as embodied in the Nicene Creed. Participating churches have entered into a covenant with each other through their leaders.
The purpose of Grace Fellowships NZ is to create a network where each local Fellowship leader and congregation can be held accountable to and are open to input from the other Fellowships. Our common desire is to grow healthy churches.
